He may not like the tag of a Bollywood King but he sure lives up to the image…

Explaining why he chose to promote Levis 501 Unbuttoned he said:

"The word Unbuttoned appealed to me since it carries a special meaning. It is not an act but an attitude. I have always been very selective about the brands that I endorse. But I have been wearing the Levis brand since childhood and it looks good on my butt. I feel it's the king of all jeans."

Actors lead a hectic life and Kangana Ranauat is no exception. Just recently, the young lady bought herself a double bedroom flat in Bandra and to be part of happiness, her parents came down all the way from Manali to Mumbai. But their daughter didn’t have time to spend with them. “She was busy shooting and travelling. Kangana was in Istanbul shooting for Roshan and then in Malaysia,” says a source close to the actress. The result was, her parents had to leave without getting to spend much time with her. “She had no time at all to be with them. So now Kangana after completing her schedule, has taken 15 days break to be with her parents in Manali. She will return back to the city after spending quality time with them,” the source reveals.

Kangana Ranaut’s joy of shooting songs for Samir Karnik’s ‘Roshan’ in home state Himachal Pradesh was short-lived after capricious weather played spoil sport. The unit had to return without canning the scenes and will now head for Mauritius.

“We had gone to Manali to shoot songs for Samir’s ‘Roshan’. We chose an untouched location far away in the hills. How were we to know that we’d have to return without shooting the songs?” asks Kangana.

Hailing from the Himachal, Kangana actually was pretty ecstatic at the locations chosen. “But our joy was soon gone when it began to rain. Bobby (Deol) and I were stuck in a tent in the middle of nowhere for almost a week,” Kangana said. “We’d rush out when the rain stopped. But as soon the camera was set up and we got into position we’d have to rush back into the tent,” she added.

Eventually, the unit had to comply with the meteorological moodiness. “The direc tor turned the song into a rain-oriented number. But guess what happened? The torrential rains then decided to turn into a drizzle. The rushes looked like scratches on the camera lenses. Now we’ll be shooting in Mauritius next month. Let’s hope the rain gods will be kinder there,” she complaints.

Jump to: navigation, searchPage semi-protectedFollowing the negative period in Kapoor's career, 2004 marked the beginning of her work in more serious films, most of which would bring her critical acclaim rather than commercial success.[8] Under the direction of Sudhir Mishra, Kapoor portrayed the role of a prostitute in Chameli. The film relates the story of a young prostitute who meets with a widowed investment banker (played by Rahul Bose), and follows the development of their relationship as they share their devastating life experiences. When Kapoor was initially offered the role in 2002, she refused it, stating that she was reluctant to play a bold role at the beginning of her career.[36] However, when the director again approached her a year later, she agreed to do the film and viewed it as an opportunity to show the range of her acting skills.[36] To prepare for the role, she visited several of Mumbai's red-light district areas at night to study the dress and mannerisms of sex workers.[36] Chameli received predominantly positive reviews upon release and Kapoor's performance was generally well-received by critics, with the Indiatimes praising her "intuitive brilliance" and stating that she had exceeded all expectations.[37] Another reviewer, however expressed concern that they found her portrayal unconvincing and excessively stereotypical, describing her as "sounding more like a teenager playacting than a brash, hardened streetwalker", and likening her mannerisms to that of a caricature.[38] Nonetheless, Kapoor's portrayal of Chameli garnered her the Filmfare Special Performance Award[4] and the film marked a significant turning point in her career as an actress.[8][11She next co-starred in Mani Ratnam's bilingual project Yuva alongside Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Rani Mukerji and Esha Deol. The film, consisting of three chapters, tells the story of six individuals linked by a car accident. Kapoor is featured in the third chapter as Oberoi's love interest, Mira, a young witty woman. She was mostly criticised for taking a role of minimal importance, though her performance was generally well-received.[39] Subhash K Jha described her role as "fey and insubstantial", but further stated that "she turns these character traits to her own advantage to create a girl who is at once enigmatic and all-there, a bit like the film itself which is both mysterious and voluptuous".[40] She then appeared alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Fardeen Khan in Govind Nihalani's critically acclaimed film Dev, which revolved around the 2002 Hindu-Muslim riots in the Indian state of Gujarat.[41] Kapoor's role was that of a Muslim victim named Aaliya, modelled after Zaheera Sheikh, a key witness in Vadodara's Best Bakery case.[41] It earned her a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance, as well as nominations for Best Actress at various award ceremonies.[4] Taran Adarsh commented, "Kareena Kapoor is first-rate. Sporting a deglamorized look, the actress takes a giant leap with this film. Her scene with Amitabh Bachchan (when the latter asks for witnesses to come forward) is an example of superb acting."[42Shortly afterwards, she was cast for the first time as a villain in the thriller Fida. The film follows the story of an on-line robbery and the Mumbai underworld with which her character Neha Mehra becomes involved. During the filming of Fida, Kapoor entered into a relationship with actor Shahid Kapoor, whom she later described as having "a major positive influence in my life."[43] Although the film did not succeed at the box office,[44] Kapoor garnered positive reviews for her performance, with some critics noting a distinct progression from her earlier roles.[45] Her subsequent releases that year included Abbas-Mustan's moderately successful thriller Aitraaz and Priyadarshan's comedy Hulchul, her first box office success since 2002.[44]
Page semi-protectedKapoor was initially scheduled to make her debut in Rakesh Roshan's Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), opposite the director's son Hrithik Roshan.[17] Several days into the filming, however, she abandoned the project and later explained that, "it was probably destined that I was not to be in the film. After all, it was a launch for his son. The whole focus was on the boy. Now I am glad I did not do the movie."[17]

Mumbai, Oct 13 – Bipasha

Basu is itching to do action roles. While her latest film ‘Aakrosh’ is about honour killings where she plays her most fragile character yet, the actress says in real life she is fit enough to beat her boyfriend John Abraham’s energy levels.

‘I want to do action. I think I am too fit at this point in time and that is a zone that I have not tapped fully and in India we don’t have too many films where the woman gets to do action. Hopefully, somewhere I see that I will be able to realize something that I want very soon. So I’m just crossing my fingers,’ Bipasha told IANS in an interview.

The 31-year-old has one of the most well-toned bodies among Bollywood actresses.

‘I feel girls should be (physically) strong, it’s very important. I have a boyfriend who is very strong; so I should match at least 30 percent of his strength.

‘Now my energy level is much more than him, I can beat his energy levels in 20 minutes,’ revealed Bipasha, who also released a fitness DVD ‘Bipasha Basu: Love Yourself’ earlier this year.

After starting her career with the 2001 film ‘Ajnabee’, Bipasha, who was initially a model, went on to do films like ‘Aankhen’, ‘Jism’, ‘Raaz’, ‘No Entry’, ‘Corporate’, ‘Race’ and ‘All The Best’.

Tagged as ’sexy’ and ‘glamour girl’, Bipasha surprised everyone when she decided to do the issue-based film ‘Lamhaa’ and flaunt a no make-up look. She is repeating the same in her new release ‘Aakrosh’. Directed by Priyadarshan, it is about honour killings and also stars Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna.

‘In the film, I play Geeta who loves Ajay Devgn but is not allowed to marry him because he is from a lower caste. She is married off to Paresh Rawal. In the film, I lead a very sad life. This is by far the saddest role that I’ve ever done. I actually pity the life of women who go through this.

‘My character in the film goes through marital abuse, she gets continuously beaten up and abused by her husband. She has no happiness left. She is not married to the man she loves. Basically she is more or less a dead person.

‘That’s why Geeta has no makeup, her saris are very normal. She doesn’t even do her hair properly. She is by far the most vulnerable, weak, fragile role that I have ever played,’ she added.

Bipasha maintains she is not a method actor and leaves her character on the sets.

‘I’m not a method actor, I don’t even take it after the cut. I’m an instinctive actor because I learnt on the job. I never wanted to be an actor when I did my first film. so for me it is all instinctive.

‘If you make me rehearse too much, I’ll be like a robot, I’ll be mechanical. So, I don’t belong to the method school of acting and I don’t understand it because to me they all sound mad.’
